MAURICIO PELLEGRINO says Southampton could pull the plug on his job at any moment.

The Saints boss is living on Death Row as a manager where his future could be decided with the flick of a switch because of the intense pressure.

Southampton needed an own goal from Davinson Sanchez to get them a much-needed point but they are still in the Premier League drop zone.

Pellegrino joked: “In Argentina we say that the job is the electric chair, it is not easy to stay in the seat. I am pleased, this club has everything to carry us forwards.

"When they ask me if I’m worried about my job we say the manager is the easiest employee to lose. We depend on our results. It is a joke. It is really difficult to be seated in the same chair every time.

“When you win, draw, lose you have to win again. The question is always the same. When I play for a team I was lucky to be champion for a lot of years.

“But even when you are the best on Monday you have to train to be the best again. It is never finished. It is part of life.

“The biggest risk is to work in football because if the sense of everything is this is a game. But we hear budget and money you will be buy players and we think it is mad. The sense of everything is this is a game.

"If you don’t want to lose don’t play. I prefer not to lose my job because it is part of my life.”

Southampton went ahead through an own goal by Davinson Sanchez only for Harry Kane to pull Tottenham level with his 99th Premier League goal.

Spurs are now two points outside the top four and could be five adrift by tonight if fourth place Liverpool beat Swansea.

Tottenham’s rivals are all strengthening during the transfer window this month: Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all signed players recently.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s squad has been ravaged by 'flu' and keeper Hugo Lloris and midfielder Christian Eriksen missed the game with illness.

Even so Pochettino admits it will be tough for his team to compete with those around them and bring in any more new signings this season having been linked with a move for Bordeaux winger Malcolm.

Pochettino said: "It is not easy to add a player who can help for three months. It is very difficult. For some clubs it is easier but it is not easy for us.

"It will be difficult to add quality to the team in that period. We are very relaxed, calm, not concerned, we are happy with the squad that we have. If something happens, maybe the conditions are there to try to sign player of course, but if not, it’s not a problem.

“Our game wasn’t great, our performance wasn’t the best. Credit to Saints, because they fight, they played well, it was a fair result in the end. It is true that massive chances in the last minutes for Harry Kane, but I think at the end, if you analyse the game, it’s a fair result.

“In possession, we made a lot of mistakes in possession. It wasn’t our best version of ourselves.. It’s true the pitch didn’t help us but for both teams.
