HARRY KANE scored his 99th Premier League goal – but was there nothing memorable about Tottenham’s performance.
Striker Kane cancelled out Saints’ opener which came through an own goal from visiting defender Davinson Sanchez.

But in a poor game, neither side really deserved to win and from Spurs, this was a far cry from their 4-1 win here last season.
Kane could have reache dhis century right at the end but he wasted a good chance.
Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen both missed the game with a virus while Southampton striker Shane Long also had flu.
Southampton had been poor at home, winning on three of their previous 17 games at St Mary’s – and had scored just 14 times.

Yet after just 12 seconds, Manolo Gabbiadini delivered a shot but it was straight at Vorm.
And having started well, Southampton kept finding some space behind the visiting defence.

Not helped by Moussa Sissoko not getting back quick enough, Serge Aurier kept finding himself over-run and it was from this type of move that led to the goal.
Ryan Bertrand delivered an overlap with Dusan Tadic who released the England left-back.

He crossed into the danger area and the ball was turned into the goal – via the left-hand post – by Sanchez who was at full stretch.
Yet Southampton’s lead lasted a grand total of three minutes as they failed to defend Ben Davies’ corner.
Kane was being marked by Jack Stephens but he lost his man and then towered over Gabbiadini to score with a powerful header.
Sissoko was unmarked but steered a driven cross from Davies wide.

Stephens had a decent chance but missed the target with a heeder and at the other end, Eric Dier’s drive was held by Alex McCarthy.
Mario Lemina and James Ward-Prowse both shot at Vorm but they failed to threaten again until the end.
Sissoko was rightly booked for a nasty studs-up tackle on Bertrand while Dele Alli missed the target from long range and Kane miscued a volley.
The match had certainly become dull but livened up a bit when Eric Dier accused Tudic of deliberately elbowing him in the mouth although ref Kevin Friend believed it was accidental.
