Liverpool transfer news: Sheffield United struggle to keep hold of Wales star David Brooks as Jurgen Klopp steps up interest

LIVERPOOL are showing a keen interest in Sheffield United wonderkid David Brooks.

The Blades are ready to offer the attacking midfielder a new bumper contract in a bid to keep him at Bramall Lane.

The midfielder has spent the past three years with Sheffield United after being released by Manchester City.

His blistering form in the Championship has attracted interest from a handful of top-flight clubs - he has already made 11 appearances and bagged two assists this term.

Despite only making three league starts, the Warrington-born ace has earned rave reviews under the management of Chris Wilder.

Brooks has chosen to represent Wales internationally, despite featuring for England at the Toulon Tournament earlier this year.

The in-demand youngster received his first call-up for the Wales' senior squad earlier this week.

He signed a new deal with the Championship giants earlier this year, but the Blades are keen to offer a new contract to make the deal long-term.

Merseyside rivals Everton are amidst the sides scrambling for the the in-demand youngster's signature.

However, Blades boss Wilder recently warned Premier League clubs that it would be a waste of time trying to sign the Welshman because he is happy at Sheffield.

He said: "He won't be going anywhere [in January]. We've said that all along.

"We are building something here. There are always casualties along the way when you do that and, yes, we are already looking to January ourselves."
