LEICESTER are ready to do offload Danny Drinkwater to Chelsea - but only if they can sign a deadline day replacement.

The Foxes have been working overnight to try to tie up a deal for Sporting Lisbon's Adrien Silva and are hopeful something can be done.

But only when that is in the bag will they start talking to Chelsea about a £30m plus deal for England's Drinkwater.

A fee has not been agreed between the two clubs yet.

Chelsea are determined to try to get one signing over the line before tonight's 11pm deadline.

And with City making progress on Silva there could be an end in sight for Chelsea's long-standing pursuit of Drinkwater.

Chelsea boss Conte is eager to get new players in especially after losing out to Liverpool over Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Conte believes his squad is not strong enough in numbers to cope with the demands of Champions League and Premier League and Champions League campaigns this season.

He says that seven games in a three week spell in September means he needs to 'rotate' his players.

Chelsea have had two bids rejected for the 27-year-old, who featured in 35 of Leicester's 38 Premier League games in their title-winning term.

Drinkwater has admitted his desire to leave the Foxes, but the club remain insistent that they want to keep the midfielder.
