The Merseyside club's toughest task will come in the form of Olympique Lyonnais, who will be determined to play the final on home turf at Stade de Lyon.

Atalanta BC enjoyed a sublime spell in Serie A last term, where they provided a shock fourth place finish.

Apollon Limassol enter the group as the underdogs, but they are considered to be one of the most successful teams from Cyprus - with 15 major trophies and 3 participations in the Europa League Group Stages.

Everton progressed to the group stages of the competition following their two-leg win against Hajduk Split.

New signing Gylfi Sigurdsson played a pivotal role in the 3-1 aggregate win, after he netted a 50 yard screamer on Thursday during his Everton debut.

Wayne Rooney will be looking to retain the trophy he collected with Manchester United last season following his switch back to Goodison Park.

Everton were unable to face Arsenal from the draw as the two clubs are from the same nation.

The Gunners are set to face Cologne, Belorussia and Serbia in the group stages.
