Stoke’s signing of Jese Rodriguez shows ambition to push on… but they still need wing-backs this summer

Potters chairman Peter Coates told talkSPORT that the club are still eyeing one or two more players

STOKE CITY confirmed the signing of former Real Madrid Jese Rodriguez on a season-long loan.

Jese has the tempo, game-changing potential to get fans excited at the bet365 stadium, hopefully putting an end to speculation that the club have been lacking ambition.

Stoke have been criticised by numerous media sources this month for their lack of investment and ambition during this summer transfer window, having spent just £7 million.

It wasn't all that long ago that Jese was breaking through at Real Madrid, keeping Isco on the bench.

The 24-year-old was once a really exciting prospect, he could have been a big star at Real Madrid had it not been for a string of injuries.

Fans believe that the signing of Jese is a massive step forward and believe he can score plenty for the club.

Peter Coates told talkSPORT that the club could make more signings but it will depend on movement from other clubs.

He also stated that the club have an eye on one or two players in before the window closes later on this month, also stating we are always wanting to improve the squad with higher calibre of players.

Stoke fans want Coates to spend money on a top wing-back as they feel that we need more quality to supply our forwards.

It is without doubt fans are wanting top calibre players at the club to stand any chance of finishing higher than ninth in the league.

Stoke now have FIVE Champions League winners, putting them one ahead of Premier League champions Chelsea.

Chelsea having four in their ranks, Manchester City have three, Manchester United have two and Liverpool and Arsenal just having one.
