Arsenal sent clear warning about Man United ahead of Emirates showdown

Danny Murphy sends a warning to Arsenal ahead of Manchester United's trip to The Emirates this weekend

Danny Murphy believes that Manchester United’s good recent form is an ominous sign for Arsenal ahead of Saturday’s showdown at The Emirates.

The Red Devils continued their solid string of results with a strong performance in the 4-2 win over Watford at Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Manchester United are currently Manchester City’s closest challengers for the Premier League title and they will head to The Emirates on Saturday full of confidence from their recent run of results.

Jose Mourinho’s men were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at The Emirates in the same fixture last season but that marked the only time that Arsene Wenger has gotten the better of the Portuguese manager in a competitive fixture.

And former Liverpool FC midfielder Murphy has warned Arsenal that Manchester United will be brimming with confidence after their recent good form.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Murphy said: “United showed some different qualities in the game [at Watford], being clinical, being resolute, dropping off, and they looked defensively solid.

“I think they can go into the big games against Arsenal and Man City with a lot of confidence now, but will Jose Mourinho risk playing five at the back against the bigger teams?”

Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League table heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

The Red Devils are aiming to try and win the Premier League title this season after the disappointment of their sixth-placed finish last season under Mourinho.

Their most recent Premier League title triumph was back in 2013.
