Rio Ferdinand opens up about ‘immense’ defender amid Man United transfer link
The Manchester United legend was impressed with Michael Keane's performance in Burnley's 2-1 win at Palace
Rio Ferdinand has praised Michael Keane for an immense performance in Burnley’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace amid reports linking the defender with a return to Manchester United.
The Burnley centre-half produced a commanding performance in the heart of Sean Dyche’s side to help the promoted outfit secure a valuable three points at resurgent Crystal Palace.
Keane moved to Burnley from Manchester United in 2014 after Louis van Gaal deemed the Englishman surplus to requirements at the 20-time English champions.
His replacement Jose Mourinho has contended with an injury crisis at the back throughout the 2016-17 season following injuries to Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling.
Manchester United have been linked with a move to re-sign the defender from Burnley as Mourinho looks to bolster his defensive options in the summer transfer window.
One of the club’s best-ever defenders Ferdinand was impressed with Keane’s performance at Palace.
“Michael Keane was immense down at Crystal Palace. He headed everything that moved. The ball was like a magnet to his head,” Ferdinand said during a video on his YouTube channel.
