'Animal' Alexis Sanchez will be at Arsenal next season - Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger has described Alexis Sanchez as an "animal" after his winner against Manchester City sent Arsenal through to the FA Cup final -- and promised that the Chile striker will remain at the club next season.

Sanchez pounced on a loose ball to put Arsenal ahead 2-1 in extra time at Wembley, the second time in three years he has decided an FA Cup semifinal in extra time. It completed a comeback victory for Arsenal after Sergio Aguero put City ahead in the second half and Nacho Monreal levelled for the Gunners 10 minutes later.

"Alexis Sanchez was today like the team," Wenger told the BBC. "He had problems to start and became stronger and stronger. He is an animal, he is always ready to kill the opponent. In games like that he will never give up and that is his strength."

It was another reminder of how important Sanchez is to this Arsenal side and how crucial it will be to keep him at the club next season.

Sanchez and fellow star Mesut Ozil are both out of contract after next season but have so far spurned offers of long-term contract extensions. But when asked how confident he is that Sanchez will still be at the Emirates next season, Wenger again seemed to rule out the possibility of selling him even if he doesn't sign a new deal.

"Hopefully he will still be here -- he will of course still be here next year because he has a contract until 2018, and hopefully we will manage to extend him," Wenger said.
