Wakefield centre Reece Lyne has failed in his bid to overturn a two-match ban imposed for a dangerous tackle.
The former Hull player was suspended on Tuesday after being found guilty of applying unnecessary contact to the head, neck or spinal column of Warrington full-back Will Dagger during last Saturday's game.
An appeals panel on Wednesday upheld the two-match ban, which rules Lyne out of Thursday's Super League derby with Castleford, and a £300 fine.
Daryl Powell's Tigers have the chance to go 10 points clear at the top of the Betfred Super League, at least for 24 hours, when they take on their revitalised neighbours at the Beaumont Legal Stadium, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 7pm.
Wakefield are just two points behind second-placed Salford and have their eyes on a top-four finish.
