Daryl Janmaat sees no reason why high-flying Watford can’t continue their impressive unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Marco Silva's side lie fourth after their opening four fixtures and two points off the top two sides, Manchester United and Manchester City, after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary's.

Watford, who are unbeaten in their opening four top-flight fixtures for the first time in their history, will meet Pep Guardiola's side on Saturday at Vicarage Road and the Dutch right-back believes his teammates will suffer no inferiority complex when they meet the title-chasing Citizens.

"We're unbeaten with eight points from four games so it's a fantastic start to the season," Janmaat told the club's official website.

"We have got to continue like this and on Saturday we have Manchester City at home and a great opportunity to try to stay up with them.

"We are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment. We have a good team, some good signings, a lot of strength in the team and pace up front.

Meanwhile, Silva, the Watford head coach, believes there is more to come from his side with the upcoming return of influential players including Argentinian international Roberto Pereyra and believes he is just seeing the start of their potential.

"The players know our idea and our philosophy," Silva said. "They know how we want to work every day. Anything is possible if we play like we did today, but they know we can only achieve something if we work hard.

"We need to play without fear and respect every opponent but [so far] it's a pleasure for me to see. It's been a very good start, but really, this is just the beginning."
