Under-19 World Cup: India and Pakistan record thumping wins

India and Pakistan recorded thumping wins over Papua New Guinea and Ireland respectively in Tuesday's games at the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

India skittled Papua New Guinea for just 64 before coasting past that total in eight overs to seal a 10-wicket victory and make it two from two in Group B following Sunday's triumph over Australia.

Pakistan, meanwhile, rebounded from an opening-day defeat to Afghanistan in Group D with a nine-wicket win over Ireland as they eased past their opponents' 97 all out in 8.5 overs.

Anukul Roy starred with the ball for India, the left-arm spinner bagging 5-14 in 6.5 overs as Papua New Guinea lost their final six wickets for three runs at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

India skipper Prithvi Shaw then ignited with the bat, smashing 12 fours in an unbeaten 57 from 39 balls while dominating an unbroken opening stand with Manjot Kalra (9no).

Shaheen Shah Afridi was Pakistan's main man in Whangarei, taking 6-15 against Ireland, for whom No 8 batsman, Joshua Little, top scored with 24.

Ireland did dismiss Rohail Nazir (18) in Pakistan's run chase but Muhammad Alam (43no off 19) and Hasan Khan (27no off 21) condemned them to a second straight defeat, following Sunday's seven-wicket loss to Sri Lanka.
