Arsenal stinks and they can't fix anything after Liverpool disaster

There’s no reason to believe anything will change.

Arsenal has suffered their fair share of humiliating losses during this decade, but Sunday's might have been the worst of all. The Gunners had absolutely nothing to offer at Anfield, falling 4-0 to Liverpool without recording a single shot on target. They conceded the opener because their players spaced out and stopped playing and things only got worse from there.

SB Nation's Arsenal blog The Short Fuse isn't pulling punches. "This isn’t about transfers (mostly); it’s about a team that doesn’t seem to have too much of a clue and, worse, don’t seem to want to find one, seemingly preferring instead just to forge on and hope everything will fix itself," Paul DeBruler wrote in the immediate aftermath of the loss.

They did not change their tone after a few hours worth of reflection. "At the end of the day, Arsenal needed change. Yesterday. The board needs to change, the manager needs to change, the players need to change," another writer said in a second piece about the state of the club.

Arseblog is advocating for gutting the club, even though they know that won't happen. "Yesterday was genuinely alarming and should be a watershed moment. It ought to be a wipe the slate clean moment, a get a brand new slate moment, and rebuild. It would be the right thing for the football club," they wrote.

There's no reason to believe Arsenal will improve. They never address their biggest problems and they allow twice as many shots on target as other big teams. Arsenal is a bad team with a bad manager and bad ownership. It's hard to see them going anywhere in the short or even medium term.
