It’s expected to be a snowy day at Anfield Road for the Merseyside Derby, as Liverpool host Everton in the 229th meeting of the two biggest teams in Liverpool. Both teams come into this match having won three matches in a row, with Everton potentially starting to turn around a poor start to the season.

That poor start cost Ronald Koeman his job as Everton’s manager, with Sam Allardyce taking over recently. Everton has been a little bit more incisive and coherent as a team of late, but they still find themselves well outside of the Champions League picture they’d hoped to be in this season.

Liverpool, though, are right in the heart of that battle right now, in fourth place in the Premier League and 11 points ahead of Everton. Their attack has also been in blistering form lately, scoring 15 goals in their current three-match winning streak, while giving up just one. Seven of those goals came in one game, an absolute demolition of Spartak Moscow to secure the top spot in their Champions League group, and against a team that had previously been one of the better defensive units in the group stage.

Liverpool will be the clear favorites in this match because of their form, but Everton’s confidence is growing of latem and they always step up to try and spoil the season of their bigger neighbors across the city. Regardless, it should be an entertaining match, especially with the random element of the forecast snow involved as a potential equalizer of sorts.

Liverpool will have a trio of potential starting defenders absent, with Alberto Moreno joining Joel Matip and and Nathaniel Clyne on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury against Spartak at midweek. Everton have a long list of injuries as well, with Ross Barkley, James McCarthy, Yannick Bolasie, Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines, Martin Stekelenburg, and Ramiro Funes Mori all hurting right now.
