Everton loan players recap: Dowell nets winner for Forest

Everton have a number of players out on loan this season, here’s a quick recap of how they did with their respective clubs this weekend.

Youngster Kieran Dowell continued to make his importance felt at Nottingham Forest, scoring the winner over the weekend against Brentford. In the short time he has been there, Dowell has already made three appearances for Forest and impressed both the manager and fans alike.

Over the weekend, he came on for the second half with his side ahead 2-1 at the break, and he scored the fourth goal as Forest led 4-2. However the Bees pulled one back and made it tight in the end. Forest now sit in third place in the Championship.

Tyias Browning is slowly but quietly establishing himself as a rock in the Sunderland defence. After another understated performance in a 3-1 win against Norwich City, here’s what SBN blog Roker Report had to say about the youngster -

“... the potential for him to be a colossus of a defender is definitely there for all to see, and I think we’re really going to enjoy watching him grow this season.

“I’d argue that Browning was our best player yesterday, in terms of a performance over the entire ninety minutes.”

Brendan Galloway is also at the Black Cats, and while his attacking forays down the left have been exciting, his defending still needs some work. Once again from the Roker Report -

“... I’m keen to not criticise Brendan Galloway too much because he’s given his best in every game that he’s played so far, and I’d be going against my beliefs if I didn’t at least give him some credit.

“I feel a little for him, because he doesn’t look overly comfortable at left back and it’s affecting his performances.”

The player is a converted left back and we had seen him look ill-at-ease away from his preferred center half position at Everton as well, so time will tell.

Midfielder Joe Wiliams played the full 90 minutes for Barnsley in a 2-1 loss at home against Ipswich Town. He has done well playing the anchor ahead of the defence in a 4-1-4-1, but the Tykes are in the bottom three after two consecutive losses to begin the season.

Matthew Pennington is still out injured after last weekend and missed Leeds United’s 0-0 draw with Preston.

Defender Antonee Robinson watched the game from the bench again as Bolton Wanderers drew 1-1. He did see the pitch when making his debut in the EFL Cup win over Crewe in midweek.

Away from England, Henry Onyekuru was a second half substitute but failed to find the net as Anderlecht slipped to a 2-0 loss away at Charleroi.
