Everton enquiry for Presnel Kimpembe rejected by Paris Saint Germain

The Blues, and Liverpool, were keen on the 21-year-old, but PSG not keen to sell

Given the manner in which Everton have gone about their summer transfer business, a player not being signed has become something of an oddity.

Sure, there has been resistance, the point in case being the chase for Gylfi Sigurdsson, but eventually deals have been done and wrapped up.

Indeed, it is hard to see the Iceland midfielder not arriving at Goodison Park at some point this summer.

You can’t win them all, though, and it seems one player the Blues will not be getting at any point is Paris Saint Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe.

The 21-year-old shot to prominence last season when he successfully nullified Barcelona’s attack in their 4-0 humiliation in France in the Champions League.

His performance caught the eye of many an observer, including Everton, Liverpool and Inter Milan. That led to some tenuous inquiries about his services this summer.

According to RMC Sport in France, however, those enquiries were met with a swift and definitive no. The French giants have no intention of letting him go, look elsewhere.

It’s hardly surprising, Kimpembe is highly rated in Paris and letting him go to Everton was unlikely to ever happen.

The news does tell us something interesting though; the Blues are on the hunt for another central defender. Indeed, with the injury to Ramiro Funes Mori, that hunt is likely to be intensified in the coming weeks.
