Ronald Koeman wasn’t well-pleased by the poor effort put forward by his side when they wasted an opportunity to reel in Arsenal and Manchester United who are tied up in FA Cup action this weekend. Everton could only draw 0-0 against a struggling West Ham United side, with precious little to show for periods of dominating possession.

The manager pulled off Idrissa Gueye and Tom Davies at the break in a bid to spark his team who looked toothless.

“I made a signal to the team to change but...

“I feel sorry for Tom, I feel sorry for Gana because if it was allowed to change 10, then I would've changed 10 players after the first-half.”

His assessment of the Blues performance was pretty stark -

“I think we can do a really short press conference.

“Disappointed. Disappointed about the performance of this afternoon, this was not the team what we can be, far away from the level in every aspect of football.”

Koeman went on to elaborate -

“Maybe a point and a clean sheet are positives but after that they are no more. I was disappointed with the performance – it was far from the level that we have shown the whole season. Today was poor, I can’t say any differently.

“It can happen, but the problem was that there was a slow start to the game. We didn’t have the intensity that we need to play to our highest football level. It took so much time to find free players in the midfield.

“It wasn’t a good day. West Ham didn’t create a lot, and it wasn’t a football game to enjoy.”

Asked what he thought about James Collins tugging blatantly at Ashley Williams’ shirt at an Everton corner -

“I need to see the clip because I didn’t see it from the bench. Maybe that is another situation but we need to do it by ourselves.

“We didn’t play at the level that we can bring, and that is really disappointing.

“We were not the team we can be. We were far away from the level in every aspect of football. You try to find some reasons why it wasn’t at that level that we expect, but it’s difficult.

“But I’m not worried. It’s possible. It’s football.”
