Everton at Liverpool: 10 key stats

This weekend sees the second Merseyside derby as Everton make the short journey across Stanley Park to Anfield.

The Blues travel looking to avenge the last gasp defeat at Goodison Park in the first meeting earlier this season.

They do so seeking to bring an end to their disastrous record at their former home too, having failed to win at Anfield since 1999 when Kevin Campbell scored the only goal of the game.

It should prove to be a fascinating affair once again, so we've compiled ten key stats ahead of the clash.

Teams

• As you’ll be painfully aware, Everton are without a win at Anfield in a long time. Their last one came back in 1999, courtesy of a Kevin Campbell goal.
• In fact, in the Premier League era Everton have only managed two wins in 25 games at Anfield scoring 16 and conceding 35 in that time.
• April 1^st is a good date to travel to Anfield, though. The last time the Blues did so was in 1904 and they won the game 5-2.
• Don’t be expecting the Toffees to win a penalty mind you. They’ve been handed one penalty at their former home in the last 80 years.
• The two managers, Ronald Koeman and Jurgen Klopp have met each other four times as managers. The German is currently on top, having won two of those meetings.

Players

• Joel Robles is yet to taste success against Liverpool. He’s faced them three times to date and lost two of them, conceding five goals in the process.
• Just like Everton, Phil Jagielka will be hoping to turn his fortunes against Liverpool around. He’s faced them 20 times in his career and only won once.
• The midfield battle will be key to the game and will likely feature two experienced midfielders in Gareth Barry and Lucas Leiva. The England man has beaten the Reds just three times in 36 games against them. Leiva, in contrast, has beaten Everton eight times in 16 appearances.
• If Everton are to end their disastrous run at Anfield, Romelu Lukaku will be key. He does have a so-so record against Liverpool, with five goals in 12 games against them to date.
• Stopping Sadio Mane will of course be key given his form this season, he’s got two goals in four games against the Toffees.
