Alexis Sanchez opened his account for Manchester United at the weekend.
And Jamie Redknapp reckons he has already proved why the Chilean ace is “born to play for United”.
But the Sky Sports pundit believes he knows the only way Premier League defenders can stop Old Trafford’s new darling: by kicking him.
The former Arsenal forward has been fouled 15 times in three games for United, equating to a foul every 17 minutes. Against Huddersfield on Saturday he was brought down seven times - the most for any player in the Premier League this season.
Redknapp, writing in his Daily Mail column, does not believe Sanchez’s record wages - believed to be upwards of £400,00-a-week - have anything to do with it, however.
“It is simply because nobody can get near him,” he said.
“When Sanchez is at his best he is on a mission, running with the ball and terrorising defenders.
“Luis Suarez was similar - when you get on the ball and into this dangerous positions you are more likely to be fouled.”
Redknapp reckons the ‘devilment’ own Sanchez is the reason why United fans will fall in love with him quickly - just as Arsenal supporters did.
United’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield saw them close the gap behind leaders Manchester City to 13 points.
