Oh, Arsenal.

A deadline day that promised so much, with the wantaway Alexis Sanchez tipped to leave the Gunners and the exciting Thomas Lemar likely to arrive - among others - ended up becoming something of a damp squib.

By early evening, it was revealed Gunners weren't going to do any more business , leaving fans - and Gunners legend Ian Wright - distraught. There are worries that Sanchez won't be motivated to play well over the remainder of the season, and the club have also lost Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool.

Wright tweeted that the Gunners should "take the f***ing money!" for Sanchez, and he wasn't alone in his anger.

Arsenal have, after all, lost two of their opening three Premier League games of the season, and Wright's mood was echoed by many, many more fans.

And what followed was a mixture of Gooners being depressed and other people laughing at them.

The 11pm deadline can't come soon enough for them...
