Tottenham are preparing a move for Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj when the transfer window opens in January, writes Tom Hopkinson in the Sunday People.

Croatia international Badelj played four times against Spurs in the Europa League last season and in 2014-15, as the clubs met in the last-32 stage in successive years.

He was a target for AC Milan in the summer, but the two Italian sides were unable to agree a fee.

Now Tottenham are looking at a move for the £7million-rated 27-year-old, whose contract with his Florence-based club expires in 2018, at the turn of the year.

Badelj is a team-mate of former Spurs stars Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka at international level.
