Tottenham are considering a £5million transfer deadline day move for Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Ukraine international winger Konoplyanka is out of contract with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in June and will be available on a free transfer. But Capital One Cup finalists Spurs are aware there are a number of clubs keen to sign him.

Roma were interested, but pulled out late last week – leaving the way clear for Tottenham to move in for the player, who has 40 caps for his country.

Konoplyanka’s father, Oleg, said on Friday that his son – a target for Manchester United and Liverpool last summer, and also for the latter at this time last year – would see out his deal with Dnipro.

But Spurs are ready to offer £5m to secure him now – especially as their squad will be depleted by the departure of Aaron Lennon, who is on the verge of a loan move to Hull until the end of the season.

Should Lennon’s move go through, it will leave boss Mauricio Pochettino short of firepower.

And that shortage will be even more of a problem if striker Emmanuel Adebayor agrees terms with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The winter window's done deals... so far!
