Schweinsteiger under pressure

Bayern Munich manaeger Pep Guardiola has piled the pressure on Manchester United target Bastian Schweinsteiger to decide on his future.

United want to sign the Germany World Cup-winning midfielder in what would be a stunning coup for Louis van Gaal's side.

"Of course I am planning to work with Basti next season,” said Guardiola.

"But he must decide what he does alone. I've told him: 'The future depends on you'.

"Basti has managed a great career - but he has to decide."

Nani to join Fenerbahce this weekend

Nani is set to complete his £3.5million move to Fenerbahce this weekend.

The Manchester United winger, who spent last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon, will undergo a medical in Istanbul on Sunday.

Nani, 28, signed by United for £17m in 2007, has three years left on his contract but Fenerbahce are not willing to pay more than £3.5m.

Fenerbahce released a statement on their official Twitter account on Thursday which read: "Fenerbahce has begun to talks with Luis Nani and his club Manchester United to transfer the player.

"Nani will be in Istanbul on Sunday for a medical check-up."

World record fee wanted for De Gea

Manchester United have told Real Madrid to forget ANY compromise over the transfer fee they are seeking for David De Gea.

United have dismissed a report in the Spanish media which claimed they had reached an agreement with Real to lower their asking price for keeper De Gea from £35million to £25m to allow the move to go ahead.

Senior sources at the Old Trafford giants say they have NO intention of budging from their £35m valuation of the Spain international – despite him having only 12 months left on his contract – and insist they have not even received a formal offer for him yet.

United are also prepared to hold De Gea to the final year of his contract and risk losing him for nothing next summer, rather than let him go to Real on the cheap.

Giggs discusses importance of pre-season tour

Ryan Giggs has stressed the importance of pre-season ahead of Manchester United's trip to the USA.

The Red Devils will once again go Stateside ahead of the new season, as Louis van Gaal looks to prepare his squad for a title challenge.

Giggs, a stalwart of pre-season tours as a player, says players can take their form from the tours into competitive football when the Premier League season kicks off in just over a month's time.

"A lot of players, if they are playing well in pre-season they take that into the first part of the season," said the Welshman.

"It is a massive part, as an individual, getting the best out of yourself. If you get off to a good start, that gives you confidence."

United want to sign Everton right-back Seamus Coleman - and are willing to offer Jonny Evans to the Toffees to sweeten the deal.

The Daily Star claim Louis van Gaal is desperate to land the 26-year-old after missing out on Dani Alves and Nathaniel Clyne.

Everton are determined to keep hold of Coleman, but United will reportedly press forward with their interest anyway.

Evans, 27, has just 12 months left on his Old Trafford contract and looks set to leave United this summer.

Lloris wants to win trophies... at Spurs

The Red Devils have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Hugo Lloris after the Frenchman revealed he wants to win trophies at Tottenham.

Lloris told Spurs' website: “We always want a better season. We expect to improve as a team and to get the club as high as possible in the league.

“We also want to enjoy it as much as possible with our fans, to go far in cup competitions – that's always a good feeling – and to win trophies.

“The expectation is always the same and we work every day for the chance to win something.”
