Mo Salah's form for Liverpool would make his price an emphatic "not for sale" - but that apparently isn't stopping one La Liga club from testing the waters.

Not Barcelona or Real Madrid, but Atletico Madrid are apparently keen on the Egyptian star and El Gol claim they'll offer about £50million for him.

This has to be one of the boldest plots in the lead-up to the January transfer window given how fiercely the Reds and Jurgen Klopp held onto to Philippe Coutinho amid Barca's advances in the summer, but stranger things have happened.

Philippe Coutinho steps up Brazil training with Liverpool star increasingly likely to feature against England

Philippe Coutinho has trained with Brazil and looks to be in contention to feature against England at Wembley.

The Liverpool star has been out for the last three games and may anger Jurgen Klopp by playing in the showcase.

The 25-year-old picked up a groin injury after the Reds went down 4-1 to Tottenham.

Klopp has coped without his talisman with victories over Huddersfield, Maribor and West Ham, but will watch on in fear of a relapse if he does play next Tuesday.

In the meantime Tite is preparing his side to play against Japan on Friday, but with Coutinho already working with the ball, a substitute appearance has not been ruled out.

His absence from the starting lineup will likely offer a chance for Chelsea winger Willian to complete the front three with Gabriel Jesus and Neymar.

Tite may opt to maintain Willian in the line-up for England and deploy Coutinho in midfield ahead of Fenerbahce star Giuliano.

Sven Goran-Eriksson reveals Liverpool is his dream Premier League club

Sven Goran-Eriksson is without a job after finishing up at Shenzhen FC, his third club in the Chinese Super League.

And the former England manager, who also took charge at Manchester City and Leicester, hasn't fallen out of love with the Premier League.

Swedish Sven, 69-year-old spent five years in charge of the national side between 2001 and 2006, guiding them to the quarter-finals in three consecutive major competitions.

He's won the UEFA Cup with IFK Gothenburg, Serie A and UEFA Super Cup with Lazio and Coppa Italia with three different Serie A clubs, while his stint at Benfica was similarly decorated.

But with his managerial career winding down, Eriksson has admitted he has one final job he would like to take, the Liverpool Echo reports.

“I would love to manage Liverpool,” Eriksson said. “I’m an old, old Liverpool fan.

“I always have been, as has my father.”
