Everton’s move for Cenk Tosun is in danger of collapse.

The Blues believed they had agreed a £25million deal to sign Besiktas striker Tosun, but were stunned when his Istanbul club raised the asking price at the 11th hour.

That has led to a stand-off over the fee, with negotiations grinding to a halt as the New Year dawned — despite the player flying to London to complete the deal.

Bestikas are now believed to be demanding more than £27m for the Turkey international, after being hit with a price increase for the man they want as his replacement.

Everton director of football Steve Walsh had flown to Istanbul at the end of last week in an attempt to seal a deal which would be the record fee for a player leaving Turkish football.

But the Blues are now ready to pull the plug on the transfer if Besiktas continue to demand a higher price.
