Arsenal have given up on signing Thomas Lemar, according to reports.

The Gunners did have the Monaco midfielder as one of their top summer targets but have seen three bids turned down.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have become acceptant that Monaco are unlikely to sell the French international until next summer.

Arsenal were prepared to pay up to £50million to land Lemar but it appears not enough to turn Monaco's heads during this transfer window.

The remaining two weeks of the window are now expected to be focused on clearing out the dead wood at Arsenal, with Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy, Lucas Perez and Joel Campbell all set to try and find new clubs.

Arsenal fans go into meltdown after Alexis Sanchez accidentally tweets he is in Paris

If you are going to another city to try and force a transfer, it is probably best to check your location settings.

Basically, make sure your social media page doesn't betray your position in the world.

Looking at you Alexis Sanchez!

Sanchez's future has been one of the summer's longest running sagas.

The striker has less than 12 months left on his current Arsenal contract with no sign he wants to agree to a new one - as Manchester City, PSG and Barcelona circle.

The Gunners man is in Paris this weekend and while he is linked with Paris Saint-Germain, it is probably not a great idea to send Gunners fans into a frenzy.

But in an innocent tweet, the Chilean left in two clumsy words, "Paris, France" and as only fans from north London can do a huge dummy was spat out.

Arsenal want their money back on misfit Perez who joined from Deportivo La Coruna last summer for £17m and Wilshere has one year left on his current contract.

England midfielder Wilshere has been told he can go but Newcastle could look to do a loan on Perez if Arsenal cannot shift him before the end of the window.
