Mascots of all shapes and sizes lead out football teams week in, week out - but never like this.

For before their glamour friendly in Santa Clara on Sunday night, the Manchester United and Real Madrid players were led out by none other than Ronald McDonald.

Yes, that's right, the red-haired, yellow suit-wearing clown familiar with children all over the world as the face of burger chain McDonalds.

He stood at the front of the queue as the teams made their way on to the Levi's stadium, before lining up alongside the match officials.

Ronald McDonald then shook the hands of the two sets of players, which included the likes of Anthony Martial, Gareth Bale and Karin Benzema.
