When you think of professional footballers at the training ground you expect hard work, coaches shouting, and maybe a bit of messing about.

But Wayne Rooney achieves more than just improving his shots on target percentage in an average session at Everton's Finch Farm.

Oh yes. The former Manchester United striker uses it as the perfect opportunity to fix himself up and have a shave.

The striker, who was charged with drink-driving in the early hours of Friday morning after a 10-hour binge in Cheshire, was pictured sporting stubble on his way to training on Wednesday morning.

He was later snapped clean shaven, much to the confusion of photographers gathered outside the training ground on Merseyside.

Rooney was stopped by police at the wheel of a VW Beetle belonging to 29-year-old Laura Simpson, who he had meet at The Bubble Rooms on Friday.

His pregnant wife Coleen was away on holiday with his three young sons at the time.
