Everton make the trip to the Netherlands for their second pre-season friendly, when they take on Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente.

The Toffees have been extremely busy in the transfer market this summer, with Ronald Koeman bringing in a host of new faces, including Goodison old boy Wayne Rooney.

The former Manchester United striker made a goalscoring return when he turned out against Gor Mahia in Tanzania, firing home from 30 yards in the Toffee's first pre-season friendly.

Follow all of the action from Holland as it happens.

Everton: Stekelenburg, Baines, Keane, Williams, Kenny, McCarthy, Barry, Davies, Mirallas, Lookman, Calvert-Lewin

Subs: Joel, Schneiderlin, Jagielka, Rooney, Lennon, Martina, Gueye, Klaassen, Besic, Dowell, Connolly

A decent night for the Toffees

So Everton end up with a 3-0 win against FC Twente in what has been a productive evening for the Toffees.

Mirallas, Lennon and Dowell all scored excellent goals for the visitors and the performances of a number of players will have given Koeman something to think about when it comes to next week’s Europa League qualifier, when things get (slightly more) serious.

No goal from Wayne Rooney during his 25-minute cameo, but he did deliver a peach of a cross-field 50-yard pass and make a general nuisance of himself up top for the Toffees.

That’s all from us, so until next time...

FULL-TIME: FC Twente 0-3 Everton

Martina shows some promise in getting forwards as Everton continue to press in the closing stages.

And there goes the final whistle.

We didn’t get another Rooney goal, but Koeman will be happy with what he’s seen here tonight.

A good workout, some good goals and no apparent injuries.

That’ll do.

Into the last five minutes

That makes it two in two for Dowell this pre-season as he presents himself as another excellent homegrown option for Ronald Koeman to look at next season.

Into the final five minutes here, so all that remains is for no-one to get injured.

Klaassen forces a save from the Twente keeper when he got on the end of a Dowell cross, which was set up from an excellent 50-yard ball from Rooney.

GOAL! FC Twente 0-3 Everton (Dowell)

More pedestrian stuff as Everton are content to string together a few passes and get those vital pre-season minutes under their belt.

Martina gets the ball in the corner, but is unable to make anything happen.

But what’s this?

Teenager Kieran Dowell gets the ball outside the box, drives forwards and fires home from the edge of the area and it’s 3-0 to Everton.

That’s three good goals tonight.

10 minutes left

That second Everton goal appears to have killed off the game.

Twente have just bought on a plethora of substitutes and they are now struggling to get out of their half.

Just over ten minutes remain.

GOAL! Twente 0-2 Everton (Lennon)

We have another goal - and it’s one that will put a smile on the face of all fans.

Aaron Lennon has put the Toffees 2-0 up after his introduction from the bench and following his recent issues, it’s great to see him back on the pitch and scoring goals.

The former Leeds man shimmied down the left, turned into the box and slotted into the far corner.

There was a slight deflection, but it was a well-taken goal.

Rooney offside

The subs have taken the life out of the game.

Rooney has done very little so far, other than jog about up front and force a little pressure on the Twente goalkeeper when he looked to clear just now.

But there he is - and he slams the ball onto the stanchion but the offside flag was up.

Martina on for his debut

Among those changes is a Everton debut for Cuca Martina.

But it’s Gueye who has the first chance since the raft of subs came one, as he drags a long-range shot just wide.

We’ve got less than 25 minutes left.

Rooney comes on

We have substitutions.

Loads of them.

And the headline one is Wayne Rooney joining the fun, as he dons the blue shirt for the first time since return to the club, after sporting the away shirt last week.

On: Gueye, Rooney, Klaassen, Schneiderlin, Lennon, Besic, Dowell, Martina

Off: Williams, Davies, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman, Mirallas, Kenny, Barry, McCarthy

Lookman has another go

Everton appear to be back on track after a rough spell.

Lookman has just fought his way to the edge of the area and fired over the bar.

He’s looked lively tonight.

Meanwhile, here come the changes...

More Twente chances

Twente continue to press and see another shot blocked.

The Dutch side win a corner, but nothing comes from it.

They’re also throwing in a couple of physical tackles, which causes Koeman to get up off his seat and admonish the referee.

Connolly then does likewise but ends up getting a boot in the head while on the floor.

He’s fine to carry on though.

Stekelenburg saves

Ah, some action.

Stekelenburg is called upon, but whether he knew too much about that point-blank save is up for debate, after a shot is fired against him.

The ball bobbles around in the box and the Toffees’ stopper eventually claims it.

Steady start to the second half

No early fireworks, literal or otherwise in the opening five minutes of the second half.

In fact, you could say they’re passing it around like it’s a pre-season friendly or something.

Two subs at half0time

Off we go again in Holland.

Just two changes from Ronald Koeman as Jagielka and Connolly replace Keane and Baines.

Mirallas impressed in the first half

Kevin Mirallas was perhaps the pick of the bunch for Everton in that first half, always running probing and he got his reward with a well-taken goal.

Gareth Barry was composed in the middle, while Calvert-Lewin needs to improve on his end product as he was failing to cross the ball in after running down the channels often.

Almost time for the second half to start.

HALF-TIME: Twente 0-1 Everton

And that goal from the Belgian is the last action of any consequence in the first-half.

That was a decent workout for the Toffees, who were on the front foot from the start.

Mirallas’ goal has given them a deserved lead and we’ll see if Koeman makes any changes after the break.

GOAL! Twente 0-1 Everton (Mirallas)

We have ourselves a goal.

Kevin Mirallas has surged forwards after picking the ball up from the left-hand side, drifted into the middle and stroked the ball home from 20 yards.

Right in the top bin and the Toffees are 1-0 up in Holland.

Twente hit the bar

Twente win a free-kick on the edge of box, after a shot is cannoned onto Michael Keane’s arm.

Harsh, as that was struck at the Toffees new boy at point-blank range.

Danny Holla steps up for the Dutch side... and his up-and-over free-kick bounces off the crossbar and behind for a goal kick.

Closet we’ve seen so far.

10 minutes left in the first half

Into the final ten minutes of the first half and we’re still goalless.

The pace has slowed down a tad and we’ve not had any clear cut chances for a while.

Koeman is apparently not going to make any changes at the break.

Keane goes close

Calvert-Lewin makes another run down the left-hand channel and wins another corner.

This time it’s pinged in conventionally by Mirallas, but it fails to beat the first man and goes behind for another.

The second corner is flicked on by Calvert-Lewin to Keane, but the centre-back can’t quite make a proper connection.

Lookman has a pop

Another chance for Everton, as Lookman tries his luck from outside the area.

The former Charlton man’s drive is saved by the Twente goalkeeper and danger is averted.

We’re half and hour into the first half and neither side have troubled the scoreboard yet.

Twente have a chance

FC Twente have their first shot on goal, following a scrappy period of the game.

The Dutch side had some joy down the left, but the shot went wide.

Calvert-Lewin is down injured after a clash of heads, but appears to be alright, as he walks off the pitch to receive more treatment.

20 minutes gone

We’ve had 20 minutes go by now and Koeman should be pleased with what he has seen.

Everton have been solid and organised at the back and have been busy up top.

His side have been putting together some decent passes and Twente are yet to threaten the visitors’ goal.

There was also some pre-match flare shenanigans - nothing too sinister though.

Davies fires wide

Mirallas - who’s been busy in these opening 15 or so minutes - is floored and the Toffees win a free kick 35 yards from goal, but again the Toffees mess up and Lookman is robbed of the ball - although there was a big shirt pull on him.

Calvert-Lewin looks to drive down the left again and following some scrappy play from both sides in the box the ball falls to Davies on the edge of the area who fires wide.

Another corner for Everton

Everton win another corner which sees Mirallas play it back to Lookman, who pings a ball in that is taken by the goalkeeper.

That’s twice that the visitors have tried something different from a corner and twice that nothing has become of it.

But, hey, that’s what pre-season’s all about...

Calvert-Lewin should have scored

Chances! Lots of them!

Calvert-Lewin really should have put the Toffees 1-0 up when he latched onto a defensive mistake, but he instead chooses to pass to Mirallas, who sees his shot blocked.

Calvert-Lewin then sees his rebound blocked, as does McCarthy.

Poor decision making from the Toffees youngster, there.

Lookman with a chance

More good stuff from the Premier League side.

Gareth Barry finds James McCarthy with a neat pass and the midfielder looks to thread a ball through to Ademola Lookman.

It’s not quite there, but more good, forward-thinking stuff from Everton, who look to be playing with purpose here.

Everton up and running quickly

Koeman’s men make a fast start, with Kevin Mirallas surging down the left and winning an early corner.

Nothing becomes of if and FC Twente have a goal kick.

The visitors are on top in these early exchanges.

Peep! Off we go

Following that breaking pre-kick off piece of bad news from the Toffees, we’re under way in the Netherlands.

Let’s see what Ronald Koeman’s men have up their sleeve...

Barkley undergoes surgery

Everton have just confirmed that Ross Barkley has undergone surgery on his groin today.

That was the injury that kept him out of both this trip and the tour to Tanzania earlier this month.

The club say he should be back in four weeks.

They also gave an update on Ramiro Funes Mori, who was hurt during international duty with Argentina in March.

And it’s bad news, as he faces six to nine months out.

Ouch.
