Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld insists they will not let their season fall apart after FA Cup heartbreak.

Alderweireld says Spurs have got a strong enough mentality and claims they have still got the title in their sights despite blowing a great chance of a trophy.

The Belgium centre half said: “This team will get there, if not now, it will be tomorrow, or the day after. We are confident about that.

“Of course everyone is very disappointed, they go home, get the focus back. If we hadn’t played a good game then I think we would have been more angry with ourselves.

“But I think we played a very good game. We must keep the positives and maybe it’s a good thing to play so quickly on Wednesday, focus on that and there’s a lot to play for.

“We’ve shown our mental strength, two times we’ve come back in this game and that’s very good. I think we can do it, we have to believe and do everything we can.

“We really wanted that, but sometimes you have to have a little bit of luck, but you have to work hard and eventually it will come, do the same things we are doing, keep working hard, developing ourselves and we will get there.”

Alderweireld also insisted that he will put all talk about his contract and future on the back burner until the summer as he looks for parity with the club’s top earners.

“No, the only thing I’m focusing on now is the games, on the pitch, I left my heart on the pitch. It’s about the manager and the club,” he added.
