Jurgen Klopp is disillusioned by Financial Fair Play as Neymar edges closer to completing a £199m move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Liverpool boss is confused as to why the Ligue 1 side have been allowed to sign the Brazilian, given the financial figures involved dwarf the available funds based on their revenue.
Klopp has hit out at the feeble regulations, which are supposed to curb rich owners simply splashing their wealth on a parade of superstars.
“I thought FFP was made so situations like that could not happen,” he said.
“But it seems it is more of a suggestion than a rule. I don’t understand how it happens.
“There are only two clubs who can pay transfer fees like that - Manchester City and PSG, and everyone knows that.
“But I hope this deal is an exception not the next step for football. I don’t know.”
