Here's all the latest United stories from today's Daily Mirror...

Sour grapes

An angry Arsenal fan lost his temper and threw RED WINE at the United dugout on Saturday.

The incident came as United opened the scoring through a Kieran Gibbs own goal during their 2-1 win at the Emirates on Saturday evening, propelling Louis van Gaal's men into the top four.

Wine reportedly went onto the backs of unhappy United staff on the sidelines, although it is unclear whether they will make an official complaint about the matter.

Arsenal managed to identify the culprit and with the help of CCTV and stewards in attendance, removed him from the stadium. They have told Metropolitan Police that they will ban any individual found guilty.

However, there has been the opinion that the away dugouts do not have enough protection from Gunners fans for quite some time, with former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson making the point previously.

"I think it was nasty. It is too open for my liking. It should not happen when you build a modern stadium. You need tin helmets," he said.

Monday's Manchester United stories from other newspapers and websites

Injury concerns

United are unsure about exercising their option to buy Radamel Falcao, according to reports in France.

The Colombian arrived at Old Trafford in a loan deal in the summer with personal terms said to be agreed on a £43million permanent switch.

However, the striker has spent time on the sidelines in recent weeks and has just one goal to his name, in the win over Everton.

According to Sport 24, the club are yet to decide whether they will splash the cash on a player with a history of injury problems.

Loan ranger

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo are Thomas Vermaelen could be on his way back to England in January.

The Belgian left Arsenal at the end of last season but is yet to make his Barcelona debut due to a series of injury problems.

He was heavily linked with United before moving to Spain and it is suggested Louis van Gaal could revisit this one and make a loan move in the new year.

With his defence having been ripped apart by injuries this term, the United boss will surely make additions in January and Vermaelen is on his radar, with ex-club Arsenal also interested.

Robertson on the radar

According to the Express, United will battle it out with the Gunners for Hull left-back Andrew Robertson.

The 20-year-old only moved to the KC Stadium in the summer but has impressed under Steve Bruce.

The Tigers boss has admitted Robertson, who scored against England last week , is a target for a lot of top clubs with his side facing a battle to keep hold of him.

Any deal is likely to cost upward of £10million but with Luke Shaw struggling with injury and Ashley Young having to deputise at Arsenal, United are short of options.

In it together

Chris Smalling believes Saturday's morale-boosting win over Arsenal can kick-start their season.

The Red Devils were up against it for the large part but dug deep to claim all three points and defender Smalling claims wins like that will bring unity to the squad.

He told United's official website: "It was a massive win. We've played better than that away from home actually and not picked up the three points.

"So, analysing the game at the training ground, we'll see lots of things we could have done better, but we'll also look back and say it's an important three points.

"It's all positive for us and we want to take that into a positive week of training to improve even further."
