Liverpool's front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are the best in the Premier League, claims Dejan Lovren.

Lovren says the trio are a nightmare for defenders and he is relieved he doesn’t have to try and mark them in training.

Mane, Salah and Firmino each scored in the 4-0 destruction of Arsenal and Lovren claims none of their domestic rivals has a better frontline than those three.

“I’m a Liverpool player and, of course, for me they are the best,” said the Reds defender. “They caused Arsenal a lot of problems.

“It’s a long season and we will see towards the end of the season who will be in the first place, but you can see the difference those three players make.

“I’m lucky that I don’t have to face them very often in training. It tends to be the guys, who aren’t in the first XI.

“All three of them are top players. They have pace and great quality.

“They are amazing. It would be quite difficult for any defender when you are up against Salah, Mane and Firmino.

“Going forward, we really showed our quality. We scored four goals against Arsenal and could have had more.

“We need everyone to stay healthy during the international break and come back together and perform like that again against Manchester City.”

As well as being talented, Lovren claims being fit is another key to Liverpool’s great form.

Liverpool torched Arsenal with their high-tempo football and Lovren says they worked hard in pre-season to ensure they could play at this frenetic pace.

“As a group, we’re feeling good,” said the Croatia defender. “In pre-season, we took our bodies to the maximum so we know that in difficult games, with the tempo up and down, we will be ready to compete with everyone.

“Maybe we will be one of the fittest teams in the Premier League, like we showed last year. Us and Tottenham, I think, had the best records for running.”

Lovren is encouraged by Liverpool’s fine start and believes they can better last season’s fourth place as they juggle challenging in the Premier League with competing in Europe.

“We always want to be better than last season,” said the former Southampton stopper.

“It’s difficult to predict now at the beginning of the season how things will go. But we’ve started the season in good shape and good form.

“Now we must continue like this and I’m confident that we can achieve at least as much this year.

“We just need to step it up a little bit against the so-called smaller teams too.

“It’s getting harder every season in the Premier League. You can never beat somebody six-zero, seven-zero, like in La Liga when Real Madrid play Alaves.

“Here you’re fighting for your lives in every game, against the top team, the bottom team, against every team.”
