Liverpool can climb into the Champions League places with victory at Brighton on Saturday.

With four-placed Arsenal not playing until the evening, Jurgen Klopp's side can leapfrog the Gunners in the table with victory at the Amex.

The Reds arrive on the South Coast in red-hot form, and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run against Chris Hughton's men.

Liverpool come into the game on the back of a thumping 3-0 win at Stoke in midweek.

But Brighton have made an impressive start to life in the Premier League and come into match in the top half after one defeat in their last five.

Klopp provided an injury update and previewed the game when he faced the cameras at Melwood on Friday afternoon.

That's all, folks. Here's a summary...

Here’s what Klopp had to say...

...on Allardyce to Everton: “With Sam I have a history when he was at Sunderland. He said something after the game and then he had to row back but we had a good relationship when he was England manager.”

on Mignolet red card incident: “I’ve watched it again and if there had been a red card for Simon we couldn’t have argued.”

on Salah’s form: “Mo is in a good moment and hopefully he will stay in a good moment.”

on Brighton: “Brighton is a really, really strong side. A strong group of new signings. They are not a counter attacking side or a long ball side only, but they have quick wingers and skilled players.”

on medical advice over busy period: “We discuss with the medical staff but there is not much to discuss — they give me information and I have to accept it.”

on a title challenge: “If City keep winning like they do then there is no chance for anybody — but that’s not our problem. We have to focus on Brighton.”

on Matip: “It looks like Joel Matip is out. He felt something muscle wise after the last game, we still have to make final assessment.”

Team news

“It looks like Joel Matip is out. He felt something muscle wise after the last game, we still have to make final assessment.

“Lallana is still building up fitness. Ragnar Klavan was ill.

“Final decisions will be made after the session at 3pm.”

On putting together a winning run

“We have to win the games, we have no other chance to get to where we want.

“If City keep winning like they do then there is no chance for anybody — but that’s not our problem. We have to focus on Brighton.”

On team selection in busy period

“We discuss with the medical staff but there is not much to discuss — they give me information and I have to accept it.

“But every player has to show me every day how much he wants to be involved.”

On Brighton

“With clubs we haven’t played before I try to find out more about the city and stuff. I watched the video about the Brighton Kop in Brighton, it’s very nice and we’re coming now.

“Brighton is a really, really strong side. A strong group of new signings. They are not a counter attacking side or a long ball side only, but they have quick wingers and skilled players. It was an interesting analysis. They’ve had some good results already this season.

“We should expect it will not be easy for us.”

On Salah

“I am a very positive person but we always talk about the last game and I’m only interested in the next game.

“Mo is in a good moment and hopefully he will stay in a good moment.”

On comparison’s with Suarez?

“I’m not interested. I respect Suarez a lot. Liverpool legend and still a great player but he’s not a Liverpool player anymore. I don’t have to compare players, I’m not interested.”

On Mark Hughes calling for Mignolet to be sent off

“First can I say it was first time this season we were lucky in a situation.

“I’ve watched it again and if there had been a red card for Simon we couldn’t have argued.

“I can understand why he [Hughes] was angry. I respect and like Mark a lot. Was it a decisive moment? Yes probably but we also had a lot of those decisions [against us] this season.”

Klopp on Allardyce appointment at Everton

“With Sam I have a history when he was at Sunderland.

“He said something after the game and then he had to row back.

“We had a good relationship when he was England manager.

“Now he’s recharged his batteries and back on track.”

Hughton wary of Salah

Mo Salah has impressed on his return to English football, the former Chelsea man having signed for Liverpool from Roma in a £34million summer deal.

The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals already, including 12 in the Premier League and Brighton boss Hughton knows he will be hard to stop.

Hughton said: “Salah will be difficult to face that’s for sure. He’s been in good form for the last few seasons, but most people in England may not have been so aware of that.

“At the moment he is outstanding - he started on the bench on Wednesday and still managed to come on and score two goals, and that shows the real quality he has, he scores different types of goals as well.

“We are very conscious of both his form and his abilities ahead of Saturday.”

'Brighton must stay level headed vs Liverpool'

Brighton must keep a level head as they look to shackle Liverpool’s attacking threat at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, manager Chris Hughton has warned.

The Reds coasted to a 3-0 win at Stoke on Wednesday night, where Mohamed Salah came off the bench to net a late double.

Hughton knows his team, who are 10th on the back of just one defeat from their past seven Premier League matches, will need to stay fully focused to get another positive result.

“We have done well so far this season, the pressure around the club invariably arises when things aren’t going so well. I think we have had more good weeks than bad ones so far,” Hughton said.

“But we are always conscious of the tough games coming up and as a group you have to stay as level-headed as possible.”

What away supporters really think of Anfield

Liverpool fans like to boast that no English ground provides a better atmosphere than Anfield.

From the famous Kop to the fans’ world-renowned rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, few stadiums are so revered for the show off the pitch as well as on it.

But does the reputation actually match up with reality?

We asked travelling supporters from other Premier League clubs to share their experiences of watching football at Anfield to see whether reality matches up with the rhetoric.

This is what they said...

Can lifts the lid on his contract dispute

Emre Can has lifted the lid on his contract dispute with Liverpool and insists his future will not be decided by money.

The Germany international will be a free agent at the end of the season and looks increasingly likely to leave Anfield next summer, report the Liverpool Echo.

Juventus are the front-runners to secure his signature and Can could pen a pre-contract agreement with the Italian outfit come January.

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear he wants to keep the 23-year-old but talks over a new deal, which started in June 2016, broke down. One major stumbling block has been his agent’s desire for a release clause.

Asked whether he would still be a Liverpool player next season, Can told the ECHO: “Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.”

Pressed on whether the release clause was the issue, he added: “It is not about money, that’s all I can say.

“Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club next month), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”
