Simon Mignolet set a rather embarrassing record as Liverpool were battered 4-1 by Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The Belgian goalkeeper, who has been preferred over the equally error-prone Loris Karius for the Reds this season, was at fault for Tottenham's fourth, as Harry Kane put the game beyond any reasonable doubt in the 56th minute.

Mignolet had attempted to catch a Christian Eriksen free-kick that was whipped into the Liverpool box, but failed to do so.

Instead he missed the ball altogether and could only watch as it landed at the foot of Jan Vertonghen, who fired at goal.

The 30-year-old defender's shot was blocked, but the loose ball then found itself at the feet of Kane, who fired past Mignolet with ease.

The error was just one a of few that marred the game from a Liverpool point of view, as Dejan Lovren's early mistake led to Spurs' second goal.

But it was the one that recorded the rather embarrassing stat.

Since Mignolet's debut for Liverpool in August 2013, he has now made more errors leading to a goal than any other player in the Premier League. Ouch.
