Kyle Walker has promised to ramp up his social media war with Manchester City teammate Benjamin Mendy, even if it means waiting for the right material.

The full-backs have traded blows on Twitter in what has made comical reading for followers of both parties.

The England right-back tweeted a video of Mendy getting nutmegged while on Champions League duty earlier this month against Fenerbahce.

But the 27-year-old soon received his comeuppance when he was nutmegged against Crystal Palace, much to the Frenchman's delight.

The pair have enjoyed a superb start to the season which has seen their side concede just three goals in all competitions. And Walker is enjoying his time with his new teammates.

"If you know me I do like a bit of banter," said Walker. "He started it, I am going to say that. He came for me first.

"As soon as he got the nutmeg in Holland last time I had to jump back on it.

"But he's just relentless. I was speaking to the people who help me with my social media and we were saying he just keeps coming with things. I'm probably going to have to lay down for this one for a little bit 'til something comes up."

Typically, after hearing Walker's comments, Mendy responded: "I don't understand all but I love you bro."
