Jadon Sancho has been granted permission by Borussia Dortmund to play for England at the under-17 World Cup this month in India—but on one condition.

The Bundesliga giants will allow the precocious 17-year-old to feature for Steve Cooper's side, but only if he returns after the group stages, report Kicker.

Next month will give the young Lions another chance to add world honours at youth level after claiming the under-20 World Cup this summer.

Sancho featured for England on the way to the final of European Championships in Croatia this summer and picked up the player of the tournament award.

Dortmund have concerns over their super talent's fitness after only sealing his £10m move from Manchester City on deadline day.

Sporting director Michael Zorc said: "Afterwards [the group stage], Jadon returns to us." England's final group game will take place on October 14, against Iraq, meaning Sancho could return to availability for Peter Bosz's side for the Champions League game against APOEL on October 17, though a more likely return will be in the Bundesliga game against Eintracht on October 21.

Sancho has been gently building up his fitness and made the big step of making the bench in the 2-1 win over Augsburg and the FA will hope the tournament experience on the world stage will help further his development.
