Harry Kane put an end to his August goal drought with two brilliant goals in England's 4-0 win over Malta on Friday night.

The Tottenham forward has not score a single goal in the month of August for the past three seasons despite winning the Premier League's Golden Boot twice in this time.

But on the first day of September, the big centre forward found the back of the net twice in the Three Lions' commanding win in their World Cup qualifying match.

Relieved Spurs fans took to Twitter after the game to revel in the fact that their man is finally off the mark this season.

Tottenham have had a bit of a stuttering start to the new Premier League season, and were pegged back against Burnley last time out.

Dele Alli has chipped in by grabbing the goals, netting once in Spurs' 2-0 win over Newcastle, and scoring the opener against the Clarets.

Kane on the other hand has seemingly been out of ideas, but was on target in Malta, and posted about getting off the mark after the match.

"Didn't like August anyway!" tweeted the striker, who included a crying laughing emoji. "Solid performance and good result away from home."

Many fans also took to Twitter to point out the humorous fact that Kane has finally found his shooting boots again as the new month begins. And well, couldn't help but have a little joke about it.
