The Toffees are joined by some of Europe's elite clubs and will test their new-look side amongst some of the best players on the continent.

Rooney was involved in the Red Devils' triumph over Ajax in Stockholm last May and would love to lift the trophy again with his boyhood club—which would be only their second European trophy in their history.

Along with Everton, AC Milan have dominated the European summer transfer window, the pair have spent lavishly.

The Rossoneri's capture of Leonardo Bonucci from rivals Juventus will take their spending past £150m, while a similar sized purchase of Gylffi Sigurdsson will lift their spending past the £100m barrier to around £130m.

That's an incredible £280m between them and they're not alone, including Marseille, who have landed several big-money stars, including Luiz Gustavo, Florian Thauvin, Valere Germain, Clinton N'Jie and Adil Rami.

Zenit, Athletic Bilbao, Fenerbahce and PSV Eindhoven are also in the hat, making for some intriguing ties ahead.

Potential Everton opponents Brann

Everton could face a banana skin in the form of Brann from Norway.

The Toffees will be short of fitness, while Brann are 16 games into their league campaign and sit 2nd in the table.

Ronald Koeman will need to raise his side’s fitness quickly.

Europa League excited for Roo

It was a great start for Rooney in yesterday’s pre-season friendly.

The former Man United star netted a beauty from outside the area.

And it seems as if many are excited to see him on the big stage in Europe for the Toffees.

Remember, the Champions League draw is first, head over here to see who Celtic will draw.

They're back!

AC Milan are back where they belong, sort of, after a hiatus from European football.

The Rossoneri will not be satisfied with that though, but this competition will give them a chance to get into the Champions League.

With Leonardo Bonucci in and potentially Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to come, they could be a better watch than many at Europe’s top table.

Leighton Baines welcomes return of Wayne Rooney and says he will have a major impact both on and off the field

Leighton Baines has welcomed the return of Wayne Rooney to Everton and feels he will have a major impact for the club both on and off the field.

Rooney marked his return to the Merseyside club in sensational fashion by scoring a stunning goal on his debut as Everton beat Gor Mahia 2-1 in their opening pre-season game in Tanzania.

According to the Liverpool Echo , the former England captain was given a hero’s welcome upon his arrival in Dar es Salaam and has wasted no time settling in with his new team-mates.

The England captain trained with his teammates, while several Blues players spent the morning involved in various cultural engagements across the Tanzanian capital.
