Didi Hamann is not happy with the idea Emre Can is statistically a better Liverpool player than him.

Current Reds midfielder Can has equalled Hamann's goal record for the Anfield club - with both Germans notching 11 times.

But according to the number crunchers, Can has beaten Hamann to the tally by a not insignificant 140 matches.

And Liverpool fan Liam Bekker pointed out the fact in a tweet.

He wrote: "Emre Can has now scored the same number of goals for Liverpool as compatriot Dietmar Hamann (11) in 140 fewer matches."

But Hamann seemed to take offence at his likeness to the former Bayer Leverkusen ace and was quick to fire back.

He wrote: "He also won 8 trophies less in 140 fewer matches."

In fact, Hamann has undersold himself.

Hamann won the Champions League, a UEFA Cup, two FA Cups, a pair of League Cups, the Community Shield and two UEFA Super Cups during his time on Merseyside between 1999 and 2006.

Can has won nothing, other than Liverpool's Young Player of the Season in 2016.

The 23-year-old also languishes behind on international goals - with Hamann bagged five times to Can's sole effort.
