Birthday boy Nemanja Matic has got down to work at Manchester United following his £40million transfer from Chelsea .
The Serb sealed his move to Old Trafford from the Premier League champions on Monday and took to Carrington on Tuesday morning for his first training session.
He was pictured alongside his former Blues team-mate Juan Mata, who made the same move in 2014, while he got acquainted with the Manchester rain.
Matic turns 29 today and revealed that working with Jose Mourinho again was a key factor in sealing his move to the Red Devils, where he has signed a three-year deal with an option for a fourth.
"I am delighted to have joined Manchester United. To work with Jose Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down," he explained.
"I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support. I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them.
"This is a very exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club."
Mourinho also chipped in, saying he was everything he could every want in a player.
"Nemanja is a Manchester United player and a Jose Mourinho player. He represents everything we want in a footballer; loyalty, consistency, ambition, team player," Mourinho claimed.
"I would like to thank him for his desire to join us because without that, it would be impossible to have him here. I am sure our players and supporters will love him. A big welcome to our new number 31."
United face Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday in their final pre-season game, with their UEFA Super Cup clash in against Real Madrid on August 8.
