Nacho Monreal doesn't score many goals.

Ahead of Arsenal's match against Brighton, the Spanish defender had only scored ONCE for Arsenal in his 141 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.

In fact, going into that Brighton clash, the last time Monreal had hit the back of the net in the Premier League was on 16th March 2013 - a massive 1,660 days ago.

Bearing that in mind, this tweet from Spain's best Peter Crouch lookalike seemed a little on the hopeful side:

Posted the day before they faced the Seagulls, it showed Monreal having a shot in Arsenal training, with the line:

"Getting my shooting boots ready!"

Given the PUMA-relate hashtags, this was clearly a post relating to his boot deal.

However, less than 24 hours later, this happened:

Yes, Monreal actually scored the opening goal against Brighton.

Footballers can be a superstitious bunch - so don't be surprised if Monreal now tweets about his 'shooting boots' the day before EVERY game…
