After months of speculation, Alexis Sanchez's future appears to finally be decided with the Chilean on his way to Manchester United - and Gunners fans couldn't help but point out the irony of the move.

In the January transfer window two years ago Mathieu Debuchy was denied a move to Old Trafford by Arsene Wenger.

At the time, the full-back told French television channel Canal+: "It would have been magnificent [a move to Manchester United].

"I discussed it with the coach, who said that obviously he couldn't help out a rival.

"Unfortunately it wasn't the case. Yes, I'm a little bit annoyed with him. It's his choice."

But despite Wenger supposedly having told Debuchy Arsenal don't sell to rivals, the Gunners boss is happy to let Sanchez leave to United.

The irony of Sanchez's move wasn't lost on Arsenal fans...
