For someone who has been so troubled by injuries in recent campaigns, perhaps it wasn’t the wisest move for Jack Wilshere to head to an ice rink.
The Arsenal midfielder posted a picture on Instagram from a family trip, which featured his wife and two children.
The 25-year-old quipped in his caption: “Positive week, managed to get through 20 minutes of ice skating without getting injured.”
Wilshere has suffered a plethora of injury setbacks to fall down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, but he’s back to full-fitness and pressing Arsene Wenger for a more prominent role in the starting XI.
The Gunners boss has always backed Wilshere throughout the England international’s numerous stints on the sidelines and took Wilshere’s skating trip in good humour.
"It's not ideal, honestly, but for your balance it is not bad,” joked Wenger, during his Europa League press conference on Wednesday.
“For a footballer, I don't think it is great but it depends what you do.
"You can do ice skating and make sure nothing happens. Ice skating violently, I don't think he did that."
Wilshere is in contention for another start in the Europa League against BATE Borisov on Thursday night as he eagerly pushes for more Premier League minutes ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
The midfielder has completed four of Arsenal’s five group matches thus far, helping the north Londoners assure qualification into the last 32 already as group winners.
However, Wenger will be targeting a response from his squad following the 3-1 home defeat by Manchester United last Saturday, before an away trip at Southampton on Sunday.
