Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez "felt sad" when he learned his proposed move to Manchester City had failed.
That's according to his Chile teammate Mauricio Isla, who described the Gunners star's mood immediately after Sanchez received the news.
The 28-year-old was hopeful of linking back up with Pep Guardiola, who he played under at Barcelona, at the Etihad this season.
Manchester City made a Deadline Day bid for the forward as Arsenal attempted to convince Thomas Lemar to join them in north London.
But the Gunners failed to entice the France international to these shores, meaning Sanchez was denied the chance to leave.
Speaking to the Chilean press, Isla revealed how Sanchez took the news.
"Alexis is at a top club like Arsenal but he was very happy to move on to another big club [Manchester City]," said the Fenerbahce man.
"After the news came and he was not able to sign the contract, Alexis felt sad and surely that affected him.
"The transfer was very important to him but it did not happen."
Despite this latest update, Sanchez worked his way back into the Arsenal fans' good books late Wednesday night.
The forward posted two images of himself, one showing his name and number in an Arsenal kit and the other him interacting with Gunners fans.
Alongside the two images the forward wrote: "Back home" and "Focus" suggesting he has put the transfer saga behind him and is ready to start performing for Arsenal once again.
