Arsenal have scheduled a meeting with Bordeaux to discuss a £50million deal for Brazilian forward Malcom, reports say.

Scoring 18 goals in 78 games for Ligue 1 club Bordeaux, Malcom has attracted the attention of a number of European clubs with Manchester United and Tottenham also monitoring his situation.

But Arsenal hope to beat their Premier League rivals to the 20-year-old’s signature and are set to meet Bordeaux today to discuss a January move worth up to £50m, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Brazil U20 star Malcom could be seen as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is destined to join Manchester City either this month or in the summer.

City submitted a £20m bid for the Chilean this week and Pep Guardiola is determined to secure his services after Gabriel Jesus’ serious knee injury.

Manchester United were the first English club to express interest in Malcom, who signed for Bordeaux from Corinthians in 2016, but Tottenham were said to be in the process of tabling an offer last week.

Amid intense speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, Malcom revealed this week that he was learning English.

Speaking about the interest in their player in December, Bordeaux president Stephane Martin told L’Equipe: ‘He will not leave this winter.

‘What if we go an immediate loan deal back? I don’t see that being in the interests of the club to do that. We have not spoken about it and it is not something we are working on.’
