The agent of Cristian Pavon has lifted the lid on Arsenal’s interest for the Boca Juniors forward.

Arsene Wenger is on the hunt for Alexis Sanchez’s replacement at the Emirates and a number of forwards are being linked with a move to north London in the January transfer window.

Reports suggest the Gunners are ready to trigger Pavon’s £27million release clause and are keen to get a deal over the line quickly, with Sanchez set to sign for Manchester City.

Pavon’s representative has revealed that he was approached by a fellow agent over a potential move to Arsenal.

‘I don’t know where the news originally came from. I received a call two days ago from an English agent to see if there was a possibility of the player moving as Arsenal are looking at him,’ Fernando Hidalgo told ¿Cómo te va?.

‘If Arsenal are interested they should contact Boca and try send over an offer if they are truly interested in him.

‘Nobody has called me officially from Arsenal and I haven’t had any chats in regard to this matter. If it’s true what this person was telling me then they should contact the club is what I said.

‘So far I haven’t had any news from the club on this matter. Surely they would have called or something, then I would have known about it by now.’

However, Hidalgo insists Pavon is fully committed to seeing out his contract at Boca.

He added: ”I haven’t got anything official to confirm with you in this moment.

‘He has a contract with Boca, we signed one not too long ago, it’s a long contract with Boca and we are all happy with it and I repeat we have to keep things real here – Pavon is a Boca player.

‘Boca would have to receive an offer and if it’s accepted and finalised, in that moment we will accompany him in whatever happens after.’

Manchester City, Liverpool and Juventus are also understood keeping tabs on the highly-rated Pavon.

It’s believed Arsenal remain keen on Thomas Lemar despite failing with a move for the Monaco star ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
