Arsenal crashed out the FA Cup after a humiliating 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Arsene Wenger named an inexperienced side for the clash and the Gunners’ youngsters were punished by their Championship opposition in the third round of the competition.

The north London giants will have been desperate for silverware in the competition, with the Premier League title almost certainly heading to Manchester City this season.

Following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at home to Chelsea last Wednesday, UEFA’s Europa League account trolled Arsenal for being 23 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s men in the English top flight.

And, after the defeat at Forest, the account tweeted: ‘Holders Arsenal crash out of FA Cup away to second-division Nottingham Forest.’

Eric Lichaj was the hero for Forest against Arsenal, with a first-half brace for the home side.

Danny Welbeck gave the Gunners a lifeline with a goal in the 79th minute, but Gary Brazil’s men were able to hold on for a memorable victory.
