Arsenal have been told they will need to fork out £40million to secure the transfer of Julian Draxler, reports say.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacker has fallen down the pecking order at his club and is thought to be open to working under Arsene Wenger.

Draxler has been a long-standing target of Wenger over the years, with the London club keeping tabs on the German since his Werder Bremen days.

The Mirror claim PSG have sounded out Draxler’s suitors and named their price with the hope Arsenal will bite.

PSG are desperate to beat Manchester City to Alexis Sanchez and see January as the ideal time to hijack Pep Guardiola’s move.

City are unlikely to swoop for Sanchez until the summer with Guardiola concerned a big name addition upfront could disrupt the dressing room.

A move to the Etihad is Sanchez’s No.1 choice, but Arsenal may force a switch elsewhere by accepting bids in January.

Arsenal are thought to be open to offers upwards of £35million and are edging towards cashing in on Sanchez rather than keeping him until the summer and losing him on a free.

Should PSG meet Arsenal’s valuation of Sanchez, that could pave the way for Draxler to move in the opposite direction.

Arsenal are in need of a new talisman with Sanchez seemingly having one foot out of the door and Mesut Ozil in a similar contact limbo.
