Chelsea will take on Arsenal, while Manchester City will face Bristol City in an exciting pair of Carabao Cup semi-final ties.

Manchester United would have expected to be in the hat but were surprisingly sent packing on Wednesday night by a brilliant Bristol City performance thanks to Korey Smith’s stoppage-time winner, while elsewhere Chelsea overcame Bournemouth in dramatic fashion.

A day earlier, runaway Premier League leaders Man City snuck through on penalties against Leicester and Arsenal were the victors in a less-than-thrilling tie against West Ham.

WHEN ARE THE CARABAO CUP SEMI FINALS?

As per usual, the semi-finals will take place over two legs, with the away goals rule only coming into effect after extra-time of the second leg.

The first legs will take place on 9 and 10 January 2018, while the second-leg matches will be played on 23 and 24 January.

The fixtures land kindly for both Chelsea, who face Norwich, Leicester and Brighton either side of the semi-final legs, and Arsenal, who take on Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Man City have arguably drawn the shortest straw and travel to Anfield in the Premier League in between their two semi-finals, while they also host Burnley and Newcastle.

The final will be played a month later, on Sunday 25 February, at Wembley Stadium.
